My project focuses on exploiting MRI-CEST pH imaging as a non-invasive in vivo molecular imaging techniques to investigate tumor acidosis in murine tumor models. I am also interested in using this novel technique for assessing treatment response to inhibitors of cancer metabolism and to drugs targeting proton pumps.

My research aims at ...

My research aims at building novel Matlab and Python based tools for processing preclinical MRI images, in particular devoted to exploit MRI-CEST (Chemical Exchange Saturation Transfer) methods for investigating tumor acidosis. I am also involved in developing a customizable workflow engine for archiving, sharing, and processing medical images for preclinical imaging facilities through the integration of an open source imaging informatics platform (XNAT) with customized tools for automated image processing.

My research focuses on ...

My research is focused on the evaluation of the physico-chemical properties, biodistribution and imaging performance of different contrast agents for photoacoustic and optical imaging. PhotoAcoustic Imaging (PAI) is a biomedical imaging modality based on the use of laser-generated ultrasounds, a PA image can be considered as an ultrasound image in which the contrast depends from the optical properties, particularly optical absorption. In particular, my research interests are focused on the evaluation in vitro and in vivo of several small near infrared (NIR) absorbing dyes, dye loaded nanosystems and metal phthalocyanine.

My project focuses on exploiting MRI-CEST pH imaging as a non-invasive in vivo molecular imaging techniques to investigate tumor acidosis and treatment response to inhibitors of proton pump inhibitors in murine tumor models. I am also interested in using this novel technique for assessing kidney functionality in several renal diseases (acute kidney injuries following ischemia-reperfusion damage).

The focus of my research is developing of magnetic resonance imaging sequences for the in vivo characterization of tumor acidosis. The main goal consists in the development of preclinical MRI scanner sequences to evaluate the acidification of the tumor microenvironment and in the development of new image analysis approaches to increase the accuracy of the tumor pH measurement.

The target of my project is ...

The target of my project is validation and evaluation of novel biomarkers in atherosclerosis by means of DCE-MRI and Ultrasound Imaging. The final pathway is to identify and validate imaging parameters in order to differentiate between stable and vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques in genetically modified mouse models. I am also interested in MRI-CEST pH imaging for the evaluation of tumor acidosis.
